So happy together...There is evidence that the Jarvis, Mason and Harrisfamilies constituted an amicable group of traveling companions.Cornelius Jarvis, Levi Jarvis, Robert Mason, Joshua Mason, and A J Harrishad all relocated their families from the Hyde County, North Carolinaregion to White County, Tennessee between 1819 and 1820.
Apparently a widow by this time, Delacy Jarvis made the westward move toWhite County in 1847. The trip west was probably a physically demandingtrial, or she might have been in poor health and wanted to relocate toreunited with some of her wandering family. While we may not learn allthe background information, the fact remains that she died the sameyear. A J Harris kept his family intact in White County, as did LeviJarvis.
The rambling fever had not yet waned for some, and the next step of thejourney from Tennessee to Washington County, Missouri was embarked uponby the families of: Cornelius Jarvis (1842) and Robert Mason (1850).
Cabooses of this intercontinental migration, Joshua Mason (son of Caleb &Charity Mason), who had moved from North Carolina with his parents around1820, married Marina Ann Jarvis. They also joined the migration north,but got sidetracked and were found in Iron County, Missouri by the timethe 1870 census was taken. Marina died in Iron County, Missouri.Perhaps unable to remain without Marina, Joshua travelled again andlanded in Crawford County, Missouri where he died in 1898.
