Wesley Cooper Thompson was a farmer. He served the last 3 years of theCivil War in the Second Regiment of Berdan Sharp Shooters. He was takenprisoner at Fredericksburg, removed to Libby Prison, and later paroled.He married a comrade's sister, Sarah Catherine Wilder, in 1865 and, in1880, they moved to Iowa; in 1883, they moved to South Dakota; in 1897,they moved to Oregon. Wesley was a prominent civic leader and served onschool boards wherever he lived. He was county superintendent of schoolsat Fall River, South Dakota.

James Lawrence Thompson was born and reared in the old homestead 2 mileswest of Pine Grove Mills, Centre Co., Pa. He went to Philipsburg, Pa.,about 1820, where he was employed as a charcoal burner by the PhilipsFactory. In 1821, he married Catherine Gearhart. In about 1834, he wentto Strattonville, Clarion, Pa., and burned charcoal for the MadisonFurnace for 2 years. In 1836, he moved to Jefferson Co., near Sigel,Pa. In 1839, he moved to Armstrong Co., Pa., where he did carpenteringfor a time and spent a year burning charcoal. Later he moved to Phoenix,Armstrong Co., Pa., where he built boats for the Pittsburgh market. Hiswife Catherine died there and was buried in the Methodist churchyard atDayton, Pa. In 1854, he married Rebecca Ann Layton in Dayton. In 1859,he sold the home he had built to Archibald Glenn, his sister Mary's son.James built flatboats for the firm of Glenn & Hileman. In 1860, he movedthe family to West Decatur, Clearfield Co., Pa., where his second wifedied in 1865. In 1870, he married Susan Hanna, who survived him. Hedied in his West Decatur home and was buried in Old Peeks Graveyard (2miles west of Pine Grove Mills) in West Decatur, Clearfield Co.,Pennsylvania.
