Amon came to Camas Prairie (Corral, Idaho) from Montana in 1913. Whilein Montana, he worked on a cattle ranch. Amon homesteaded on the Prairieas a bachelor. In 1915, he married a neighbor girl, Anna Kunkel. Theymoved in with Anna's dad, Julius Kunkel, until they built their own housein 1928 (Willard, one of Amon's sons, and Willard's wife, Lois, lived inthis house until the late 1980's; then they moved a mobile home onto theproperty and live there. Now their son, Max, and his wife, Dee, live inthe old homestead house). The house was built on the site of the oldtown of Corral (also called Clarksville), established in 1881.
Amon was a county commissioner for a number of years. He ofen rodehorseback until tractors took over, then he and the horses retired.
