The wooden brakeon the wagon plunged into his body. He died. Edie stayed in the wagonand wasn't injured."

Note: In the New Masonic Cemetery, Washington County, MO, there is agrave marker that reads: "JARVIS,ADA MONTA (BLOUNT) 03 JUL 1874 - 09OCT 1926 MOTHER. W/O WILLIAM SYLVESTER JARVIS 12 JUL 1893" This mustsurely be another William Sylvester Jarvis (the family was fond of namingchildren after those of previous generations), because this W. S. Jarvishad been killed in an accident prior to the marriage date listed here.

Eda Evelyn Williams was born in 1853/1877. She died in 1896/1965. She married William Sylvester Jarvis in 1890 in Missouri.

From the Salem, Missouri newspaper dated August 31, 1970: "MRS. JARVISHAS 100th BIRTHDAY She and her late husband, William Jarvis, weremarried when she was 20. He was a [railroad] tie inspector and theylived on a little farm."

Eliza Virginia Jarvis [Parents] was born on 1 May 1872 in Washington County, Missouri. She died in 1890/1966. She married James Edward Martin in 1886/1919.

After Eliza and James were married, they moved to Oklahoma. Eliza musthave inherited the wandering fever gene from several generations past.It is interesting to note that during the "great Hyde County exodus" fromNorth Carolina that initially started the Jarvis, Mason and Harrisfamilies on their westward migrations, many of the descendants split offthe Tennessee to Missouri route and elected to go to Oklahoma. PerhapsEliza had existing family there and that prompted the move?

They had the following children:

F i Ona Martin was born Private.
M ii Raymond Martin was born in 1890/1913. He died in 1895/1994.

Foster Marion Jarvis [Parents] was born on 3 Mar 1873 in Washington County, Missouri. He died on 15 Mar 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was buried in Lower Indian Creek Cemetery, Washington County, Missouri. He married Laura E. Mason in 1894 in Washington County, Missouri.

Other marriages:
Cover, Elizabeth P.

From the research of Ed Doughty, "Family lore indicates that Marion spentall the money he had to purchase a car in the early 1920s. When the carproved to be stolen, and was confiscated by the authorities, Marion wentmad and was placed in an institution in St. Louis. He died there in 1926and is buried in the Lower Indian Creek Cemetery in Washington County,Missouri.

From the June 9, 1900 Census of Washington County, Missouri (HarmonyTownship) we find listed:
Marion F. Jarvis, male, 27
Elizabeth R. Jarvis, wife, 19
Bula M. Jarvis, daughter, 5

It is my assumption that Laura Mason Jarvis, Marion's first wife, tookEura Jarvis (child born 1897) with her when she and Marion parted ways.

Laura E. Mason was born in 1854/1879. She died in 1900/1968. She married Foster Marion Jarvis in 1894 in Washington County, Missouri.

Marion has a second wife in 1899, and research has not yet proven whetherLaura simply divorced Marion between 1897 (the birth year of their secondchild, Eura) and 1899, or if she died. Because Eura is not listed inMarion's household in the 1900 census, I am assuming that Laura divorcedand took this child with her. More research will be done to gather moreinformation.

They had the following children:

F i Bula Jarvis was born in Mar 1895. She died in 1896/1989.

From the June 9, 1900 Census of Washington County, Missouri (HarmonyTownship) we find listed:
Marion F. Jarvis, male, 27
Elizabeth R. Jarvis, wife, 19
Bula M. Jarvis, daughter, 5

Elizabeth was a young step-mother to Bula. Bula's biological mother,Laura Mason Jarvis, and her father, Marion Jarvis were not documented asbeing married after 1899. I do know if Laura divorced Marion, or if shedied, leaving him a widower with a small child. In any event, Marionremarried prior to the census being taken.

Bula's sibling, Eura, is not mentioned in the census, so I am assuming(on the sunny side of life) that this child was taken by Laura when sheand Marion parted ways. Another possibility is that mother and childmight have perished together in an accident or due to illness. Furtherresearch should prove this out.
F ii Eura L. Jarvis was born in Jan 1897. She died in 1898/1991.

From the June 9, 1900 Census of Washington County, Missouri (HarmonyTownship) we find listed:
Marion F. Jarvis, male, 27
Elizabeth R. Jarvis, wife, 19
Bula M. Jarvis, daughter, 5

Because there is no mention of Eura in this document, I am assuming thatthis child was taken with Laura Mason Jarvis when she parted company withthe father, Marion Foster. Another possibility is that mother and childmight have been deceased by this time. Further research should provethis out.
